Having a cigar dossier is a great way to keep organization on all of the various cigars you have tried. In your dossier, you should keep record of how frequently you have tried a brand, the different brands as well as types of cigars that you have smoked. To start your dossier, you will need to keep track of every cigar that you pick up. Keep the bands of the cigars as well as the information on each of them. After a couple of months, you will begin to notice the types of cigars that you prefer. If you keep detailed enough records, you will find that you may prefer a natural wrapper rather than a maduro, or a corona rather than churchill. With keeping a cigar dossier, it will help to cut down on buying disappointing cigars. As well as analyzing a particular country or product offered by a specific manufacturer.

The Process of
Machine Made Cigars
An inexpensive way to try cigars are by getting Machine made cigars. They are made with quality filler, yet because the rolling process is automated, they are rather inexpensive.
Producing a Machine Made cigar is actually pretty simple and can produce double
the amount of cigars as a hand made cigar can. You first start with the wrapper
and spread it out onto one side of a rotating aluminum disc. As it rotates 180
degrees, mechanical arms swiftly reach out and grab bunches of tobacco. Then the
operator puts another wrapper on the ready side of the disc. And after a few
seconds, the filler is rolled and covered and the process is repeated again and
again.
The machines used to produce these cigars have been unchanged for over 40 years.
Unfortunately, they do require a lot of maintenance to keep them working.
The cigar filler is made of shredded tobacco pieces, which are produced by
machine as well. In a higher quality machine made cigar, these pieces are
uniform in grade, texture and size. Lower grade machine made cigars vary in
quality. In the lowest grade, you will typically find pieces of the tobacco
stalk and stems.
The binder in a high quality cigar is a tobacco leaf. In others, a homogenized
leaf is used. This leaf is made from ground up tobacco scraps, then mixed with
combustible agents and water. They then take that and stretch and roll it into
sheet like paper.
The cigar wrapper is the leaf that forms the outer protection and will give the
cigar it appearance. Machine made cigars are made with dry wrapper, so they do
not mature like a premium cigar does.
